District News

Greetings, Summer Driver's Ed Students and Families!

As we prepare to embark on our summer class, we wanted to provide some logistical information relative to the operation of class and the adjustments that we have made to accommodate Covid-19 related safety concerns.  We will do everything we can to make this class as comfortable and accessible as possible, both in the classroom and in our vehicles.  If you have questions about items below, please don't hesitate to contact me at  I look forward to seeing you all next week.

Summer Driver's Ed Schedule:

Location--PHS Library.  Students will enter the classroom space through the outside library doors across from the visitors' grandstand.

Class guidelines:

Masks will be worn indoors at all times by teachers and students, per state mandate.  Students may choose to provide their own masks, or they will be provided.

Social distancing practices will be required for students and teachers before, during, and after class, while in the vicinity of the classroom

Students will be assigned seating space which will remain theirs throughout the course.

This group will be a "stable cohort," and will be the only group utilizing the library space in July.  Students will be asked to wipe down their personal workspaces daily.  There will be minimal custodial service in the space during the class, but daily cleaning guidelines for stable cohorts will be followed.

Learning materials will remain in the classroom space.  Students are asked to leave personal items outside of the classroom space.  We will take a 15 minute break in the middle of class for students who need snacks and drinks.  Vending machines in the building will be off limits.

Wipes and hand sanitizer will be available, and their use will be encouraged.

Restroom use will be limited to the facilities next to the library.

Behind the Wheel Guidelines:

Drives will be scheduled daily.  All students will have one driving session per week.  Drives will be scheduled on the second day of class, and will start on Monday, July 13th.

For vehicle safety, there will not be solid barriers in the vehicles between occupants.

All vehicle occupants will wear masks during drives.

Vehicles will be cleaned at the end of each driving session.  Instructors will clean control and other contact surfaces with sanitizing wipes and necessary cleaning products.
