Course Requirements
Philomath School District Requires each student to earn a minimum of 24 units of credit in grades 9 through 12. Listed below are the required units of credit each student must earn:

Essential Skills
Students must master state set Essential Skills to graduate with a PHS diploma or Oregon diploma (read and comprehend a variety of text; write clearly and accurately, and apply mathematics in a variety of settings).
OREGON DIPLOMA - PERSONALIZED LEARNING REQUIREMENTS (Extended Application)
Students engage in experiences such as field-based investigations; field trips; guest speakers; job shadows; service learning; school-based enterprises; workplace mentoring and workplace simulations, demonstrating knowledge and skills in the context of the student’s personal and career interests and post-high school goals. These skills are taught throughout the curriculum, integrated with academic learning, and emphasized in students’ personalized learning.
CAREER RELATED LEARNING STANDARDS
For a diploma, students will need to demonstrate extended application and career-related knowledge and skills. The Career Related Learning Standards (CRLS) are fundamental skills essential for success in employment, college, family, and community life. These skills are taught throughout the curriculum, integrated with academic learning, and emphasized in students’ personalized learning.
Exceptions
Exceptions to the requirements for graduation may be made in cases of physical or economic hardships or for special program students, as allowed by state statute and approved by the School Board. Modified Diploma candidates must meet with the school team before the end of sophomore year. See your counselor for procedures.

Honors Diploma Registration (Letter of Intent)
Students can choose to pursue an Honors Diploma at Philomath High School. We believe that students who commit to completing the Honor's Diploma are better prepared for the challenges they will face in the future.
Fill out and sign the Honors Diploma Registration form and submit it to the counseling office as soon as possible, but no later than November 1 of senior year. Paper copies of the form are also available in the counseling office.
