Kings Valley Charter School is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established to provide K-12 education focusing on strong fundamentals, hands-on learning, individualized education, promoting positive attitude and self-confidence, and local governance and accountability.



The Executive Director is responsible for providing oversight, direction and management for the school.  The Executive Director works with the KVCS Board and school staff to ensure strategic and effective administration, programmatic development and performance, and sound fiscal management that aligns with the school’s mission.  The Executive Director is hired by, and reports to, the KVCS Board of Directors.



The responsibilities of the Executive Director include, but are not limited to, the following:


Exemplary Leadership: Enacting the KVCS mission and vision to ensure alignment of effective programs and positive culture; Engaging teams through inclusive collaboration; Fostering an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion; Providing oversight of development and implementation of strategic goals based on the promotion of overall organizational health; Enacting effective communication with internal and external stakeholders. 


Effective Administration: Providing oversight of the development and implementation of educational programs; Providing oversight and support of contracted personnel to ensure program integrity; Demonstrating sound fiscal planning and budget management; Enforcing policies, procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations; Providing required reporting to the Board; Maintaining organizational infrastructure and resources; Ensuring alignment with the charter responsibilities and relationship with the sponsoring district.


Excellent Community Engagement – Representing KVCS in the larger community; Partnering with internal and external stakeholders; Maintaining positive public relations; Fostering strategic relationships with key partners; Nurturing partnerships with KVCS families.



Full-time, salaried position with exempt status.  Salary will be commensurate with experience.



Education: Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s degree preferred, preferably in related field

Oregon School Administrator license strongly preferred or willingness to obtain one

Experience in business administration and complex budget management

Education in or equivalent experience in working with youth

Experience and understanding of rural communities

Training and experience with PBIS positive behavior interventions and support

Competent and strategic project management skills



Enjoys working with children of all ages

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, across diverse stakeholders

High-level ability to exercise authority, discretion and judgement to make decisions of significance

High-level ability to solve problems under pressure with time constraints

Collaborative ability to engage with a diversity of stakeholders

Strong organizational and detail-oriented composure

Technologically astute

Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion



This position involves work both indoors and outdoors.  Work schedule includes periodic evening commitments and an expectation to be available as necessary outside normal working hours.
