Title 1-A: Improving Basic Programs

The purpose of Title I, Part A is to provide all children an opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education. Title I, Part A of ESSA provides financial assistance to districts and schools who serve a larger population of children from families experiencing poverty. The goal is to provide extra instructional services and activities to help students meet challenging academic standards.  

In the Philomath School District, Title I schools are:

Allowable Uses for Title I-A Funding: 

All funds must be spent as supplemental to support struggling students and the staff that work with them. Examples of current uses of Title I-A dollars include intervention specialists and assistants, homeless liaison and related support services, professional learning for staff, and parent information events. 

Title I-A Parent Involvement:

Parent involvement is vital to achieve maximum educational growth for students participating in Title I programs. In compliance with federal law and the Oregon Department of Education guidelines, the district meets with parents to provide information regarding their school's participation in the Title I program and its requirements. 

Meetings are held annually. All parents from participating schools are invited to attend.
