Pesticides and Herbicides

The facilities department must occasionally spot spray pesticides and herbicides in order to maintain the grounds of the district’s schools. Pesticides are sprayed around the buildings to control ants and termites. Pesticide spraying is done by the Good Earth Company of Philomath on weekends and non-school days. Herbicides are applied by Willamette Pest and Spray Service staff to playing fields and around fences on weekends and non-school days.

The district applies the best practices policy of applying chemicals only when all other forms of pest control have been exhausted. All chemicals are applied by licensed applicators. Licenses, lists of chemicals used, and MSDS sheets for chemicals are available from the facilities department upon request.

Spraying times will be posted on this web site 24 hours prior to application, as well as at the facility or field during the time of application.

The product we will be using for cleaning and disinfecting is ATMOSPHERE EPA REG.NO. 92378-2

Custodial staff have been trained to use this product per the manufactures guidelines and mix the product 60:1
1/2 oz. atmosphere to 32 oz. water. for spray bottles
2 oz. atmosphere to 1 gallon water

ALL rooms/spaces in the school building will be cleaned and disinfected daily
PRE- CLEANING- means spraying and wiping down surfaces to remove dirt and impurities.
DISINFECTING- is completed using victory electrostatic sprayers thoroughly spraying ALL surfaces, and allowing the product to air dry.
Classrooms will each have a cleaning supply bucket, to allow competent STAFF to conduct routine cleaning tasks that may be required. Example- wiping down shared reading group tables, spraying and wiping of desks between class periods (secondary schools) etc.
Custodial Staff will maintain the supplies in the classroom cleaning buckets, launder, and re-stock towels.
