Academics
K-5
Curriculum
The Academy is proud to offer our K-5 students a comprehensive curriculum that uses recurring themes that build upon previous learning. Our personalized approach challenges and excites students to build their skills for future success.
K-5 students will use the Stride K-12 Program, which is an engaging, user-friendly curriculum for families as it is a blend of online and hands-on materials. Our integrated curriculum combines themes between each of the core subjects. As students are reading, creating, and learning about a topic, it crosses from language arts to art and history. Academy lessons come to life with a rich mixture of online and printed material, these lessons include interactive animations, beautifully illustrated books, music, and videos, as well as hands-on materials for experiments.
Teachers
Mrs. House is our K-8 teacher. For elementary students, the parents are the learning coaches. Students will be instructed through the videos and materials and the parents will oversee the learning.
Our Academy teacher will be available for both students and parents to contact throughout the day if any questions arise, and students will have the opportunity to schedule a regular in-person or virtual instructional time if needed. Students will typically need to spend between three and four hours each day working on the curriculum.
6-8
Curriculum
Our coursework is a blend of online and hands-on, designed for a variety of learning styles.
Middle School Academy students take courses in all core subjects—English, math, science, and history, as well as elective courses. Electives may include world language, onsite music or art, or something from your child's personal interests.
Students in 6-8 will be working in the Apex online curriculum with some electives offered online through eDynamics or in-person at Philomath Middle School.
Throughout the year, all students in K-8 will have several opportunities to participate in group activities which may include STEAM activities, local field trips, or district events.
Middle school students should be spending approximately 1 hour per course each day in order to stay on track.
Elective Courses

Teachers
Mrs. House is our K-8 teacher. Regular instruction will be in the form of videos, readings, and interactive activities and assignments will be emailed to the teacher for grading and feedback. Students will also have the opportunity to schedule a regular in-person or virtual instructional time with the teacher if needed.
9-12
As independent learners, Academy students master skills in time management, meeting deadlines, communication, as well as content-specific knowledge while they grow and develop skills that will propel them into their chosen career field.
The Academy works individually with families to come up with the best plan for each student. Many of our 9-12 students attend in person while others have a plan to work from home. No matter the individual plan, students are required to start their school day online before 11:30 am.
High school students who attend in person are required to be in class Monday through Thursday 8:30 am to 12 pm for small group instruction. Our classroom will be open in the afternoon from 12:45 to 2:45 pm for study hall and individual support. All students work from home on Friday mornings. Students should spend around four hours each day on school work to maintain adequate progress in their classes.
