Academics
9-12
As independent learners, Academy students master skills in time management, meeting deadlines, communication, as well as content-specific knowledge while they grow and develop skills that will propel them into their chosen career field.
High school students who attend in person are required to be in class Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 12:15 pm for small group instruction. Our classroom will be open in the afternoon from 12:45 pm to 3:00 pm for study hall and individual support. Students should spend around four hours each day on school work to maintain adequate progress in their classes.
Schedule
Curriculum
Diverse Coursework for Diverse Learners
Academy courses are designed to meet the needs of all learners. We know students come with different goals, and we embrace the challenge to help them meet their goals.
Our curriculum meets students where they are and moves them forward – whether it be college, career, or skill-centered.
Teachers
Justin Barron is our high school language arts and social studies teacher and Phil Ayer is our high school math and sciences teacher.
Credit Recovery
Credit recovery courses are mastery-based and allow students to focus on the areas they need most to recover credits at an accelerated pace.
GED
Philomath Academy is an official GED testing center. The Academy works with students pursuing the GED on skill development and prepares them for the GED exams. Examination costs are covered for students enrolled in the Academy. The GED is a series of four tests: Reading through Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
